The company will be responsible for the turnkey expansion of the 500kV gas insulated switchgear (GIS) at the Kembangan substation for introduction of two additional transmission line circuits, and the extension of an existing 500kV air insulated switchgear substation in Muara Tawar.
Alstom’s UNINDO manufacturing facility in Jakarta will supply power transformers and the GIS equipment will be sourced from France.
According to the company, this project is planned for completion by the end of 2012.
The contract, worth around EUR17m, is part of the Scattered Transmission and Substations projects tendered by PLN to reinforce the transmission network in and around Jakarta.
