The contract, including an option to proceed into detailed design and procurement services, is valued at about £50m, and it is the start of several major projects being tendered by GDF Suez to support the Cygnus field development project.
The work on the FEED project will be commenced immediately by AMEC, with completion expected in the first half of 2012.
GDF Suez E&P UK managing director Jean-Claude Perdigues said the FEED contract award represents a major milestone for the Cygnus field development.
