The power plant, which will be located in Ras Al Khaima, will be equipped with four 20-cylinder Wartsila 34SG generating sets fuelled by natural gas.

The facility will supply electricity to industries in the surrounding area and is expected to commence operation in 2012.

Utico vice chairman Richard Menzes said Wartsila’s depth of experience fits into Utico’s business model and plans to maintain growth through co-operation with major partners capable of delivering added value.

UAE-based Utico is a provider of utility services, including electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
