The wins turbine slip ring systems features HiPerCon metal fiber brushes (MFBs) capable of operating for about five years without maintenance.

The first slip ring using MFBs was installed in May 2011 in a GE 1.5MW wind turbine at the PacifiCorp Leaning Juniper wind farm in Oregon, US.

DHi originally developed MFB technology under the Small Business Independent Research program working with HiPerCon, the US Navy and the University of Virginia.
