An agreement between Tajikistan and Iran on the construction of power plant is expected to be signed next month, the Iran Daily reported.

The countries are currently in talks on their shares in the hydroelectric facility construction project.

Iran entered into a preliminary agreement on its participation in the construction of the Ayni facility in January 2010.

Iran is now constructing the Sangtuda-2 hydropower plant on the Vakhsh River in the Khatlon region of Tajikistan, and Ayni will become the second such unit undertaken by Iran in Tajikistan.
