As reported, the company palns to shut the 528MW power unit for planned maintenance on auxiliary equipment. In another report, AEP said that it would work on the unit from November 15-27.

Located in Cason in Titus County, the 1,584MW Welsh plant has three 528MW units, which entered service in 1977, 1980 and 1982. The company’s subsidiary, Southwest Electric Power owns and operates the power station.

AEP, based in Columbus, Ohio, transmits and distributes electricity to approximately five million customers in 11 states. Reportedly, the company owns nearly 39,000-mile network that includes more 765 kilovolt transmission lines than all other US transmission systems combined.
