Mr Pavlas has worked in the CEZ Group for the last five years. He spent three years as CEZ Bulgaria CEO and CEZ Group country manager for Bulgaria. Prior to joining CEZ, he spent a long time serving as Prazska teplarenska chairman and CEO.

Petr Pudil, chairman of Czech Coal, said: “After more than four years of service as the chief executive, I have decided to hand over the helm to a senior manager with a track record of domestic and international experience in major energy companies. Going forward, I will focus both on the Czech Coal Group’s strategic plans, as well as the mission that I have as Euracoal President.”

Mr Pavlas said: “I have accepted the offer to work for the Czech Coal Group primarily because of the attractive potential for its further development. We need to take important steps both within the Group, in which restructuring is under way, and also outside the Group, where Czech Coal is working on some major development projects in coal extraction and the energy sector.”
