Spread across 19 acres, the facility is designed to have an annual production capacity of 400MW. It will manufacture rotor blades for the company’s S111 2.1MW turbine.

The facility is expected to create 480 direct jobs and approximately 50 indirect jobs within the state.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: “We need to focus on encouraging Wind and solar energy to fight against the risks of climate change which is the biggest threat to mankind and MP is moving fast in harnessing clean energy from wind and solar.”

The company said that that the S111 turbine is designed to enhance wind generation at low wind sites. It will also reduce the cost of energy, boost return on investment and makes low wind sites viable.

Suzlon Group chairman Tulsi Tanti said: “India is a key focus for Suzlon. Our vision is aligned to the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and target of 250GW renewable energy by 2030.

“India has the potential and capability to lead the global transition to renewable energy sources and Suzlon is committed to harness this potential.”

The Badnawar facility, the company’s 14th manufacturing facility in India, has been launched as part of the group’s effort to increase renewable energy projects in the state.

The company already has blade manufacturing facilities in Bhuj, Gujarat; Dhule, Maharashtra; Padubidri, Karnataka; Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu; Daman, Jaisalmer Rajasthan; and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
