The three projects have a generating capacity of 1,732MW.
The three power projects include Koldam HEP (4×200 MW) of NTPC, Parbati HEP Stage-III (4×130 MW) of NHPC and Rampur HEP (6×68.67 MW) of SJVN.
All the three projects are equipped with generating equipment supplied and commissioned by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Union Health Minister J P Nadda and Power Minister Piyush Goyal were present on the occasion.
BHEL has contracted more than 500 hydro generating sets with a cumulative capacity of more than 29,000MW of various ratings in India and abroad.
Its hydro installations are working in India and other countries such as Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Malaysia, Nepal, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Rwanda and Vietnam.
Currently, it is executing hydro electric projects having a capacity of 3,300MW in the country, in addition to major hydro power projects in DR Congo and Bhutan.
BHEL said: “The generation from Hydro projects results in reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and helps in achieving a low carbon path. The Government is contemplating inclusion of Large Hydro Projects in the fold of Renewable Energy to provide an impetus to these projects.”
Earlier this month, BHEL secured two renovation and modernization (R&M) contracts for hydro electric plants in the country.
It won orders worth around Rs.430 crore, for the R&M of the 6×60 MW Balimela HEP of Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Limited (OHPC) and the 3×60 MW Bairasiul HEP of National Hydro Power Corporation Limited (NHPC).
