The Mt. Poso plant is using coal as feedstock at present but intends to change to biomass by 2012. The conversion of facility into biomass power generation is expected to result in 50 jobs.
“Mt. Poso is very pleased to be working with PG&E,” said Michael Hawkins, one of the project owners. “Our collaboration with PG&E supports our efforts to convert the plant to a renewable energy source, which will provide jobs, help meet the state’s climate goals and support local agricultural producers and municipal recyclers.”
