Socar’s Chief Executive Officer, Rovnaq Abdullayev said “We did not refuse from intentions to build the underground gas storage in Georgia and continue negotiations with Georgia. Presently, Socar controls 75% of gas supply of Georgia, and in prospect we want to increase this index, therefore construction of gas pipeline with capacity of 300 million cu m will influence positively on our business”.
In December 2008, Socar has entered into an agreement with the Georgian government on transfer of Socar Georgia gas to the management of 22 gas distributing firms in Georgia.
