The company is also waiving early cancellation fees this summer for those who want to re-enroll on a special reduced-price term plan, in order to help existing TXU Energy customers on term plans benefit from lower prices. Additionally, the company, for the customers who switch from another provider to TXU Energy, provides plans that include significant incentives so new customers can quickly begin to enjoy the benefits and protections of being a TXU Energy customer.
TXU Energy provides its low-income customers a year-round company-funded discount in Texas. Approximately 133,000 eligible TXU Energy customers presently receive a discount of approximately 10% from the company. The TXU Energy-funded discount is in addition to the state-funded LITE-UP Texas discount that is available to low-income customers during the summer months.
The company, for the third consecutive year, has declared a moratorium on disconnects through September 30, 2009, for customers designated as low-income, ill or disabled or who are at least 62 years of age. In addition, TXU Energy AidSM, the electric bill payment assistance program is available to TXU Energy customers who need temporary assistance paying their electric bills.
