Air emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) are receiving increasing attention from regulators and industry, notes Kevin Hand, president and chief operating officer. As public concerns mount about pollution and possible climate change, companies in a range of industries can turn to us for expertise. Anu Vij has a proven record of designing thermal oxidation units, said Hand, He is the ideal choice to help us augment OnQuest’s environmental solutions for the refining, chemical, and petrochemical industries. Vij has deep experience in chemical engineering and environmental expertise, including design, construction, and operational consulting for applications to minimize or eliminate VOCs and HAPs. Before joining OnQuest, Vij was director of operations at Pro-Environmental, Inc., in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. From 2001 to 2005, he was a project manager and lead process engineer at ADV Engineering, Inc., in Chino Hills, Calif. He earned an M.S. in chemical engineering and performed post-graduate research at the University of Southern California. He earned his B.S. in chemical engineering at Panjab University, India.

OnQuest has designed a range of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) units to reduce NOx emissions for Fortune 500 energy companies.

Thermal oxidation is a proven method for reducing pollutants and other undesirable exhaust by-products of industrial processes, said Hand. Our NOx reduction and pollution control engineers can design and fabricate pollution-control solutions for industries across the energy and chemicals sector. Also known as fume incinerators, thermal oxidation units are highly efficient in the combustion of VOCs and HAPs. Recuperative thermal oxidizers combine a heat exchanger with a combustion chamber and can achieve destruction efficiencies greater than 99%. Regenerative thermal oxidizers cycle heat application and can achieve more than 95% thermal efficiency.
