The council of deputies has ratified the agreement during a session held Wednesday, the source told Dow Jones Newswires.
Jordanian government will get around $150 million before the contracting company starts investing in the project.
Covering an area of 22,000 square kilometers, the project could pump thousands of barrels of oil from oil shale.
