The decision would be taken by the agency’s directors. The increase in the power rates, if considered by the public utility serving Maricopa and Pinal County, is expected on an average to cost a household by around approximately $150 per year or $12 a month.

During the recent past, the electric utility including SRP, which supplies power to most of central Arizona, Arizona Public Service, has raised the power rates frequently.

Richard Silverman, general manager of SRP, stated that the reason to increase the power rate is to finance for shift to clean energy soon.
