In UK, EDF Energy intends to open a centre of excellence in nuclear power plant building, allowing British firms to utilize their expertise to work overseas.
In the meantime, due to shortage of skilled nuclear workers, British Energy has signed an agreement with the VT Group to train hundreds of apprentices at former Royal Navy training facilities in Portsmouth.
Already, VT Group trains Navy personnel in nuclear technology. British Energy also plans to send 50 apprentices a year on courses.
