This will cause a temporary power interruption from 8am to 5pm on October 18, 2008 and October 19, 2008, the company said.
Natasha Whalley, spokesperson of SP AusNet, said that the maintenance upgrade would involve more than 160 crew members replacing 46 powerpoles, 66 crossarms and 148 insulators, as well as 47 other general upgrade works on the electricity lines from the east of Bairnsdale to Mallacoota.
Ms Whalley said: This maintenance work is vital for the reliability of east Gippsland’s electricity supply and needs to be carried out before the bushfire season commences. Unfortunately, a power interruption is required in some areas for these works to be carried out safely.
