The agreement also calls for Reliant, which provides energy products and services to approximately 1.9 million electricity customers in the US, to purchase power generated at the facilities as well as the renewable energy credits for a term of five years.
The six plants that are the subject of the sale are located at landfills in the Houston area. The sale is expected to close in the second quarter.
Reliant is the largest independent power producers in the US with approximately 19,000 megawatts of power generation capacity in operation or under contract across the country.
