The solar array is being designed now and construction is scheduled to begin in November, with commissioning planned for June 2018. The project includes an electrical upgrade for three of the company's manufacturing buildings to accommodate the added solar and future building electrical loads. GEM Energy, based in Walbridge, Ohio, is design/build contractor for the solar array and electrical upgrade.
The fixed axis solar array will be constructed with 34,000 First Solar panels and string inverters on about 20 acres of Rotor Clip property. GEM Energy craftspeople will build much of the project by hand on the small site.
Rotor Clip is the world's leading global manufacturer of retaining rings, wave springs and hose clamps used by the automotive, wind power, military, oil and gas industries.
