The company said the $42m design-build-operation (DBO) project, which was secured in 2011, is completed ahead of schedule.
CH2M HILL DBO director Joe Glicker said, "The plant’s expansion benefits the city in so many ways, and will protect the environment and help the community grow for years to come."
Under the project, CH2M HILL reconstructed, upgraded and expanded the Wilsonville’s wastewater treatment plant to include modern wastewater treatment technology, a new odor system.
The project increased the plant’s capacity to 4 million gallons per day (mgd) from 2.5mgd, with future expansion capabilities to 7mgd.
Two new structures, including a dewatering and drying facility, as well as a head works building were constructed to produce biosolids for land application and fertilizer.
CH2M HILL said the original facility, which was constructed in the 1970s, has undergone upgrades over the years to accommodate the city’s population growth and maintain aging equipment.
The latest upgrade and expansion project allows Wilsonville to meet the community’s current needs and future growth over the next 20 years.
CH2M HILL will continue to operate the plant for the next 20 years under the DBO contract.
