The wind turbines, each with a nominal rating of 2.3MW and a rotor diameter of 108m, will be installed in five different projects in Iowa.

Siemens will also provide service and maintenance for the wind turbines, which are expected to produce about 1,050MW.

The company will assemble nacelles and hubs for the wind turbines at its plant in Hutchinson, Kansas, while rotor blades will be produced at the Fort Madison plant in Iowa.

Siemens Energy wind power division CEO Markus Tacke said the company is also a very successful player in the onshore wind industry.

"This new order from MidAmerican Energy once again highlights that we are one of the leading suppliers in the U.S. wind power market," Tacke added.
