Dong Energy owns 50% of the project, with Pensionskassernes Administration (PKA) and Kirkbi A/S holding 25% each.
Power from the first turbine is being exported to the grid.
A first set of turbines has now been installed at the wind farm and all 32 machines are expected to be erected in the first quarter of 2017.
MHI Vestas supplied V164-8.0MW turbines with a hub height of 123m and rotor diameter of 164m.
The offshore wind farm is spread across in an area of 40 km2 have a depth rage of 4m to 17m. It is located 6km from the shore.
Upon completion, the wind farm will offset more than 360,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide and about 8000 tonnes of sulphur dioxide.
The wind farm, which is expected to have a life time of 25 years, will deliver enough to power about 230,000 UK households per year.
The first Burbo Bank offshore wind farm was inaugurated in 2007, which had 3.6MW.
Burbo Bank Extension Programme Director Claus Bojle Moller said: “First power is a key milestone for us because it proves that every part of the transmission and generation equipment is successfully working.
“We’re progressing well with the construction of the wind farm thanks to a huge effort from our construction team and our contractors.
"This milestone is also significant for the offshore wind industry at a broader scale. Using these bigger turbines is a major step in reducing the cost of energy from offshore wind, and we are proud to once again introduce a step-change in technology.”
