Amazon Wind Farm US Central 2 will be located in Hardin County.
Annual power generation at the wind farm could reach about 2.2 million MWh of energy and the energy generated there would be equivalent in powering about 200,000 US households annually.
Amazon has entered into a contract with EverPower Wind Holdings to construct, own and operate the new wind farm.
The wind farm is expected to begin its operations by December 2017. It is AWS' fifth renewable energy project globally.
Power produced at this wind farm will be used for running AWS data centres located in the US East (Ohio) and US East (N. Virginia) Regions.
Amazon announced back in 2014 that it would reduce the energy foot print of AWS data centres by powering them with renewable energy. It had a goal of providing 40% of power to the data centres through renewables in 2016 and 50% in 2017.
