Fugro will undertake the study using its 105m drilling vessel M/V Fugro Synergy.
The study will include seabed cone-penetration tests (CPTs) and exploration boreholes, along with sampling and downhole CPTs.
Fugro will also carry out laboratory testing and reporting at its offices in Houston and Norfolk after the fieldwork.
The work is scheduled to before before the end of this month and take two to three weeks.
The gathered data will be used to verify geologic ground models being developed by Vineyard Wind based on prior geophysical data collected from the 166,866-acre lease area.
Earlier this year, Fugro surveyed the seabed for the Walney Extension in the UK, which is being considered as the largest offshore wind farm till date. It recently developed remotely operated vehicles which were used in cable-lay touchdown monitoring operations at Rampion Offshore wind farm.
Vineyard Wind has plans to develop up to 1GW offshore wind farm near the site. It has also hired a law firm Foley Hoag to advise it on the wind farm’s development.
The company recently gave out a notice to fishermen and said that during October and November, reconnaissance geophysical & geotechnical surveys will take place within in the portion of Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Massachusetts Wind Energy Area.
