The G128-5MW wind turbine, which has a rotor diameter of 128m and a total height of 154m, will generate enough energy to power 7,500 households per year.
The turbine is equipped with the technology Gamesa has already used in its 4.5MW system.
It has a modular and redundant design, which helps ensure reliability and maximizes energy output, improving the cost of energy.
Entirely, the turbine components were manufactured in Spain.
The nacelle, which was manufactured at the Tauste, Zaragoza factory, is 12.5m long, 4m tall and wide and weighs 72 tonnes.
The three blades are 62.5m long each and 15 tons in weight. Meanwhile, the nearly 90m tower was manufactured by Windar.
In July 2013, the plant started operation and type certification is slated for the first quarter of 2014.
Mass production will kick off later in the year.
