The scope of the contract includes the delivery of 101xG97-2MW turbines to the plant by mid-2014.

The new wind farm will increase the total capacity of Penascal complex to 606MW and generate enough power to supply 210,000 households while preventing 850,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

The company will invest $400m for the development of the new plant and will create up to 240 new jobs during construction work and eight new direct jobs at the time of wind farm’s operation and maintenance.

Iberdrola’s decision to proceed with the Baffin project is still contingent on approval from the local authorities.
