The plant will be capable of producing about 30 million imperial gallons of water a day.
It is expected to help Singapore cope with increasing water demands, which are predicted to double by 2060 from the existing 430 million imperial gallons per day.
By 2060 Singapore hopes to meet up to 85% of its water requirements via desalination and NEWater, the country's reclaimed water.

CH2M has been collaborating with PUB in the development og major-cross sector infrastructure projects in water and industrial facilities for 25 years.
The company claims that two of the major projects that it working on, were selected by the Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES) under the top 50 engineering achievements to have positively impacted Singapore after its independence in 1965.
CH2M worled on Phase 1 Deep Tunnel Sewerage System and the Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters project at Kallang River at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.
