The Nowy Staw farm, which was developed over an area of 15km2, includes 22 REpower Systems’ 2.05MW wind turbines.

The company built the plant in two phases for 14 months and invested €60m ($81m) in the project.

The first phase includes nine wind turbines totaling capacity of 39MW, which commissioned in April 2013.

The company has also installed three turbines of 6MW each in the second phase, which became online in August 2013.

Further expansion of the farm’s capacity is already being planned.

RWE Innogy COO Paul Coffey said that the company has a total installed onshore-capacity of around 1,800MW, of which around 200MW existing in Poland.

Currently, the company is operating six onshore wind farms in Poland including Nowy Staw.

"We intend to continue this success story and await the new law for the expansion of renewables in Poland. Secure framework conditions are vital to further investment," Coffey added.
