The new system to be sold in Japan by Kyocera starting this month, utilizes solar modules to generate energy for recharging electric bicycle battery, but also remains connected to regular power grid, via a DC-AC converter, ensuring stable service during cloudy weather and at the night.

Furthermore, the conventional outlets provided at stations can be used as a power source in the event of a power outage or emergency, offering an economical and ecological way of facilitating electric transportation.

The new system adds to the product portfolio of Kyocera, which is continually searching for new solar energy applications, and has been providing solar modules for cars, boats, parking lot ‘Solar Grove’ shading structures, and conventional residential and utility-scale solar power generation.
