EC&R intends to place the Pioneer Trail wind farm, which is located in Ford and Iroquois counties, in service by mid-2012.

EC&R North America CEO Steve Trenholm said wind farms create jobs, and provide an economic shot in the arm to farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across America.

Locally, this project projects to spend about $29m dollars in local taxes, paying $8m in local salaries and nearly $50m to landowners, the company said.

Being built by White Construction, the facility uses 94 units of GE 1.6MW wind turbine, which will provide about 150MW of power.

The electricity generated by the wind project is enough to provide clean power to nearly 45,000 households in Illinois using North American made turbines, blades and towers.
