PNM, an electrical provider in New Mexico, caters to the electricity needs of over 500,000 customers in many a community across the state.

Scope of the contract includes engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, using First Solar’s advanced thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules.

Construction at the three PV projects will begin once they are approved, and are slated for completion in 2014, and will in the bargain create 300 local construction jobs.

These solar power projects are expected to generate clean electricity, enough to power around 8,960 average New Mexico homes, by reducing around 25,300 metric tons of CO2 per year.

First Solar US Business Development vice president Dana Diller said, "PNM and the State of New Mexico continue to make great strides in meeting their renewable energy goals, and First Solar is excited to play a significant role in that effort."
