The alliance has formed an industrial partnership with Areva for the design and installation of wind turbines at the offshore projects, located in Le Tréport and islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.

France has opened the tender for offshore wind in order to attract investment of around €3.5bn ($4.6bn), reports the bloomberg.com.

According to Bloomberg, the country is planning to add 6,000MW of offshore wind, tidal and wave power by 2020, as it is aiming to get 23% of energy from renewable sources.

Through this partnership, GDF Suez and EDP Renewables are planning to execute profitable and exemplary projects in collaboration with all stakeholders, the companies said.

Currently, GDF Suez and EDP Renewables have 36,000MW of installed capacity of renewable energy, including onshore wind power, hydraulic, biomass, solar.
