As part of the five-year contract, ECOtality will perform vehicle evaluations with the DOE’s advanced vehicle testing activity (AVTA).
Primarily, the AVTE project will provide key data for technology modeling, and research and development programs, by benchmarking and validating the performance of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles.
ECOtality CEO Jonathan Read said the company will collaborate with DOE to produce unbiased performance data on advanced vehicle technologies that can further reduce dependence on foreign oil.
"The AVTE project allows us to better understand new and emerging vehicle technologies that will impact the future of transportation and the nation as a whole," Read said.
US-based ECOtality is a provider of clean electric transportation and storage technologies.
