The grant will be used to modify the aeration piping and process control system at the treatment system which will reduce the overall electrical energy usage at the facility.
In addition, three additional pumps and internal piping improvements will improve the efficiency of existing anaerobic digesters to produce biogas or methane.
The additional gas production will see a five percent rise in electricity and heat generated by the existing electrical cogeneration equipment.
The upgrade work is expected to be completed by April 2013.
