Black Hills Energy has received the approval from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to build and own 50% of the wind project and to conduct a competitive solicitation for remaining ownership interest of the project.

The power project includes 16 units of Vestas wind turbine and is planned for completion in late 2012.

Currently, a wind developer owns 50% of the power project subject to RFP, under a renewable energy purchase agreement with Black Hills Energy.

Colorado utility operations vice president Christopher Burke said the the company will secure the remaining permits and the RFP-based selection of the remaining 50% ownership interest.
