Environment Secretary Lito Atienza has inspected the facility and was impressed by the new facility and technology in handling industrial, hazardous and health-care waste.

Herma Group Chairman And Chief Executive Officer Hermie Esguerra stated that, doubts of financing institutions as to the viability and the readiness of Philippine market did not deter the Herma Group of Companies in putting up the Cleanway Technology in 2004.

“Barely four years after Cleanway Technology’s integrated waste-treatment facility started its business operations, it has become the Philippines’ leading integrated environmental management company that uses the most advance technologies and processes to treat and dispose hazardous and toxic waste that meet both international standards and Republic Act 6969, or the Toxic Substance and Hazardous Wastes Act.

“Cleanway Technology Corp. is Herma Group’s contribution to the global imperative of environmental protection—not just by adhering to resolutions but by actually providing the solutions,” added Esguerra.

Cleanway Technology has sealed 22,000 cubic meters of different industrial, hazardous and medical waste, in closing its first secure landfill. The company will now begin utilizing its second secure landfill, which has a capacity of 60,200 cubic meters.

Cleanway Technology President Crispino de Castro Jr. said that more of such facility will be put up in the 10-hectare land area in the next five years.

Cleanway Technology is a Philippines-based provider of services in waste management.
