The approval allows Mesa Power to continue with the development, construction and operation of a 78MW wind facility in Goodhue County.

Construction on the power project, which will use GE wind turbines, is expected to start later this year and the commercial operation is planned to start in next year.

Minnesota firms of Carstensen Contractors and Ryan Companies US will oversee the construction and engineering, and local development is being carried out by Minneapolis-based National Wind.

The Goodhue wind project will be key in helping Minnesota meet its long-term renewable energy goals while utilizing existing transmission infrastructure, Mesa Power said.
