Kagoshima Prefecture has developed the ‘Support Program for EV Promotion in Yakushima Island’, under which it is offering purchase incentive for EVs. The prefecture is also providing subsidies for installation of chargers.

Nissan has embarked on a project to analyze how to install chargers optimally using drive data analysis technology on Yakushima Island, whose varied topography provides a suitable setting to conduct studies on further refining the navigation system for EVs to precisely factor in road gradient. Nissan will also conduct a study on utilization of electricity generated by EVs.

Nissan and Kagoshima Prefecture believe that through the development of this project, they will establish establish a working model for the adoption of EVs in similar countries and regions throughout the world.
