The commissioning of the plant will help improving the power supply in the state and in North East India.
The company commissioned the plant by bringing the 35.6MW steam turbine online while the 65.4MW gas turbine at the CCPP is operational since last year.
Located at Monarchak, 66km from Agartala city, the advanced-class gas turbine-based power plant has been developed by Bhel as part of a contract awarded by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO).
As part of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, Bhel supplied gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, generators, controls and instrumentation for the project.
Bhel was responsible for civil work at the plant, which will source gas for the power plant from ONGC-operated fields.
With the commissioning of the plant, Bhel’s share of supplied sets in power generation capacity in Tripura has reached to nearly 88%.
Bhel, which recently commissioned two sets 363MW each at the gas-based OTPC Palatana project, has supplied 1,000MW of generating equipment in the state.
Bhel used multimodal transportation to deliver over-dimensional consignments while ensuring safe transportation of the equipment to the site.
The company recently secured a $513m order to provide two 800MW supercritical steam generators to NTPC.
NTPC will install the two steam generator island package at its Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (TnSTPP), located within the company’s Ramagundam Power Station in Karimnagar, Telangana, India.
