As part of the collaboration, solar power systems will be installed at 12 of Macerich shopping centers located in Arizona, California, New York and Connecticut to generate approximately 10.2MW to 12MW of sustainable energy.

The solar projects will be developed by Panasonic Eco while the company’s financial platform partner Coronal Management will finance and own the installations.

Macerich executive vice president Eric Salo remarked that the partnership helps the company improve its natural resource efficiency in a sustainable manner.

"Installing clean energy technology at our properties also aligns with our commitment to our retailers, our partners, and the communities where we operate," said Salo.

The solar power initiative is a part of Macerich’s sustainability program, which focuses on energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable real estate development and redevelopment, waste management and green operational practices and procurement.
