As a part of the agreement, Recurrent Energy will develop 12 individual 5MW projects in Galt and Elk Grove, both in California. The company expects to install the projects and begin operation by fall 2012.
These agreements are part of the utility’s feed-in tariff program (FIT) introduced in January of this year with the purpose of eliminating barriers to interconnection with the utility by offering standard rates and contract conditions to the utility’s power generating customers.
In addition, the program is expected to benefit the region by protecting the environment, saving money, reducing climate impacts of electrical generation and providing local economic benefit
