The project, which will be implemented by Nainital Nagar Palika Parishad over a period of 13 months, is estimated to cost INR93.1m including the government’s share of Rs 744.8m.

Nainital, a growing city with a lot of tourism potential, is facing a challenge in terms of solid waste management with huge influx of tourists. The proposed Solid Waste Management (SWM) project has been designed provide a SWM system that collects waste at source in a segregated manner with provision for door-to-door primary collection.

Nainital is one of the 65 cities throughout the country to receive funds from the Ministry of Urban Development under JNNRUM for the improvement of basic urban infrastructure including sewage, water supply, road improvement.
