The installation is a 118,000-square-foot photovoltaic (PV) array and is expected to produce 1,099,800 kWh of clean electricity annually.

The retailer uses all the energy produced by the solar installation that also reduces carbon emissions by 836 tons per annum.

Commenting on the installations IKEA New Haven store manager Gail Franc said "A solar energy system will help reduce the store’s carbon footprint and represents another investment toward our future in this community."

The installation was executed in partnership with the City of New Haven, United Illuminating, and Gehrlicher Solar.
