The company acquired the 16.2% stake in the company which will increase by an additional 0.5% if it were to exercise the warrants it holds for an estimated price of $25m.

A right to purchase an additional 277,103 common shares is also part of the transaction; these shares represent 0.5% of the total common shares.

Western Wind that owns and operates wind, solar generation facilities with cumulative installed capacity of 165MW, had decided to sell the company and its assets earlier this month.

Brookfield is expected to make further investments into Western Wind depending on future market conditions and developments in the renewable energy company.
