Blattner Energy, the construction contractor for the project, installed 112 of Vestas’ 1.8MW turbines at the wind farm.

EC&R North America chief executive officer Steve Trenholm highlighted the company’s desire to support the long term, renewable, homegrown energy needs of the community.

"We appreciate the support this community has given us helping harvest a new source of clean renewable energy from these cotton and sorghum fields," said Trenholm.

The wind farm in Texas, according to the company, is its 16th operational farm in North America and takes its installed capacity in Texas to 2,000 MW.

E.ON claims to have enlisted an invested of $4bn in the US wind energy sector in the last four years.
