Under the agreement, DONG Energy will perform a design review of the new V164-7MW wind turbine, which is designed for the harsh conditions in the Northern European waters.
Additionally, DONG Energy aims to install one or more V164-7MW turbines at one of its test sites for research and demonstration purposes.
The companies intend to investigate the possibility for Vestas to supply a number of V112 3MW for DONG Energy’s Danish onshore Kappel test site for research and demonstration purposes.
Vestas said installation of test turbines is an important step in commercializing new turbine technology for large scale offshore wind farms.
