The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) has provided funds to the North Dakota Department of Commerce, which directed $8.33m toward energy efficiency and renewable energy rebates for utility customers across the state.

Xcel Energy said that there are four rebate programs, which include heating for the purchase of energy efficient furnaces and boilers, water heating, insulation and ground source heat pumps. Up to $5000 in rebates can be availed by a residential customer.

Mark Nisbet, North Dakota principal manager for Xcel Energy, said: “We are excited to offer these new programs, which will help save money both at the time you purchase equipment and on your monthly energy bills.”

In addition to ARRA rebates, residential natural gas customers may apply for existing Xcel Energy heating and water heating rebates, further increasing their savings.

Under the new rebate program, each business can qualify for up to $15,000 in rebates for purchasing energy efficient boilers, furnaces and lighting equipment.

According to the company, the rebates will be available on a first come, first served basis untill the funding last or until December 31, 2011.
