TransAlta, in collaboration with Enercon, will supply, install 33 E82 wind turbines and construct the associated infrastructure.

The permit issued by the Quebec government, also allows TransAlta to pursue the necessary certificates of approval from various provincial ministries.

The company has signed a long-term 20-year power purchase agreement Hydro-Quebec Distribution for the $205m power project.

The facility will begin commercial operations in the fourth quarter of next year and is expected to produce enough energy to power about 10,500 Quebec homes.

Currently, the company also operates a 99MW Le Nordais wind facility located on the Gaspe Peninsula.
