Energy produced at the wind farm, expected to be completed in October 2012, will be sold to Xcel Energy under a long-term power purchase agreement.

The company will construct and operate the project, while members of the community will be its part-owners.

Commenting on the developments Northern States Power president and CEO Judy Poferl said, that the community-based wind resource will be part of the infrastructure being built to improve reliability and making more renewable energy available to its customers.

Northern States Power Company is a subsidiary of Xcel Energy in Minnesota, US.
