The chairman of the OMM Biswanath Sukul has admitted the problems in exploiting underground water sources to maintain the supply of sufficient water to its municipal areas due to the dry spell in the last few weeks.
“This water crisis has changed the habits of local people and they have learnt how to stop the wastage of water supplied from the municipality,” Sukul said. “The surface water project on the bank of Mahananda is going slowly. After the end of the election, the Model Code of Conduct will be lifted, and we will be able to step up the work and finish the project by March 2010. The project will solve drinking water crises in the future,” he said.
